The science of mind control and loving our own slavery: Richard Grove on State of Mind

Richard Grove in State of Mind

Richard Grove: powerful elites seek to control us us by extinguishing free thought.

By Craig McKee
It’s one thing to be controlled through force. Force is visible and its implications are evident: go against those in power and you could be ostracized, imprisoned, or killed.
But according to filmmaker and forensic historian Richard Grove, a co-writer of the recently released documentary State of Mind: The Psychology of Control, there is a more insidious form of control at work in our society, one that powerful elites have employed throughout history without most of us even realizing it. The target of this form of control is our minds. And what is under siege is our ability and willingness to think critically, to challenge what we are told, and to resist efforts to manipulate and deceive us.
“They play on your emotions, your inability to think your way out,” Grove said in an interview.
“People use words to trick other people, and that’s what I’ve seen through history. They’ve basically taken away the components of intellectual self-defense and compassionate communication, and that puts everyone at odds and starts the divide and conquer. And that’s their game.”
State of Mind chronicles the history and science of mind control, from Plato and Macchiavelli to Edward Bernays and B.F. Skinner: from eugenics and Darwinism to the Tavistock Insititute, Operation Paperclip, and MK-Ultra. The film examines how advertising, education, pharmaceutical drugs, consumerism, and the mass media are key elements of both mind control and psychological warfare, particularly over the past two centuries.
“Everybody’s born into this control structure, everybody’s born into authority,” Grove says in the film. “But just because you have an authority making decisions for you at some point when you’re too young to take care of yourself doesn’t mean you should always cater to authority your whole life.”
And then this comment from the voice-over in the film about how the education and advertising are used to keep the population “dumbed down”:
“Advertising, in addition to fundamental changes in education, produced a population of non-thinkers whose false understanding of basic concepts instilled through public schooling led to generations of people who feel they are magically endowed with the ability to somehow attain knowledge without first observing the landscape of available, credible evidence.”
(The italics above are mine: this portion of the quote, I would suggest, can also be applied to those who ridicule “conspiracy theorists” despite not having any evidence upon which to base their disdain.)State of Mind cropped
Grove, the man behind the Tragedy and Hope history podcasts, says in the film that one key difference between humans and animals is that we have the ability to ask questions, and this difference allows us to escape some types of control. But we have to be willing to ask those questions if we ever hope to find answers and to be truly free.
“The greatest barrier to discovery is not ignorance,” Grove says in the film, “it’s the illusion of knowledge.”
We hear from a number of influential thinkers in State of Mind, including Brave New World author Aldous Huxley. In a 1950s TV interview shown in the film, Huxley says:
“If you want to preserve your power indefinitely you have to get the consent of the ruled. And this they will do partly by drugs, as I foresaw in Brave New World, and partly by these new techniques of propaganda. They’ll do it by bypassing the sort of rational side of man by appealing to his subconscious and his deeper emotions and his physiology even, and so making him love his slavery, actually. I think this is the danger, that people may be actually happy under the new regime. But they’ll be happy in situations when they oughtn’t to be happy.”
So not only are we largely unaware of the system of control that takes our humanity away, but the very nature of that control has us thinking we are happy – in effect embracing our slavery.
False flags: tools of manipulation
One of the key elements of modern mind control is the misdirection of the false flag operation. With events like 9/11, we are all tricked into thinking we are constantly under an external threat rather than seeing how the mechanisms of power are truly operating against us.
“The false flag operation is equivalent to a magician’s use of a wand: look over here while something else goes on over there,” Grove says. “If 9/11 is a type of magic show, which all psychological warfare operations are … they know that they can misdirect people’s attention through belief, through propaganda, through people not checking their premises – that’s psychological warfare in action.”
Grove had been working on the 96th floor of the World Trade Center just two weeks before 9/11. His examination of that event (he created the podcast 9/11 Synchronicity) led him to realize that a large scale deception had taken place, particularly because of financial irregularities that pointed to some firms having foreknowledge of the event.
While State of Mind does not address 9/11 in any detail, it is referred to in the context of Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel and the Hegelian dialectic: problem, reaction, solution. In the film’s voice over:
“The ruling class creates an artificial crisis to which the population reacts by begging for the ruling class to intervene. The ruling class then enjoys the plunder made possible from the removal of the self-reliance from individuals.”
In other words, 9/11 was perpetrated for the purpose of creating terror and misdirection so that those in power could then impose a solution that would be welcomed by the population: the war on terror and a systematic reduction of civil liberties.
I asked Grove about the problem of truth seekers who become split over events like the Boston Marathon bombing or the Sandy Hook school shooting. In other words, some are willing to go farther down the rabbit hole than others.
“I think a lot of these events are scripted psychologically to bring out the patriots to see how they react,” he says. “It’s like velociraptors testing the fences in Jurassic Park; they’re playing with us right now. “It’s the complexity of cinema. The more layers, the more fantastical it is. And they just add a bunch of layers, and a lot of their layers are artificial noise. And the struggle becomes how do you discern the signal and discard the noise?”
So, how can productive discussions take place between those who disagree about one event or another – or between those who are open-minded about conspiracies in general and those who are not?
“Before I would have a conversation in an optimal utopic world that doesn’t exist, I would say let’s go by this table of evidence and look at each thing together – and see what we see together.
“You have to build that bridge of communication before you can send the logic across it.”
The writing of State of Mind
Grove was originally brought on board to be an interview subject in the film, but he was later asked by the producers to bring together about 40 hours worth of interviews. He says that he came up with several versions of the film (6 hours, 3 hours, 90 minutes), adding that what he calls the “writer’s cut” of the film does not have much overlap with what ended up being in the final version.
“There’s a lot of emphasis on the MK Ultra program, and that’s their preference,” he says. “That basically seeded the movie for them to get started, so we had to respect that.
“In our version of it, in the writers’ version of it, [the surveillance state] is very much a mainstay: the technocracy, the evolution of cybernetics into controlling human resources and being rained down through the smart grid and smart devices and basically creating an electronic gulag.”
Grove says it is a fact of history that elite groups have used their knowledge of the mind to oppress people rather than to help them. But he adds that we cannot let this knowledge discourage us.
“This is the nature of human beings, that some people are trying control other people and to plunder other people, and it’s just a fact of life,” he says. “We don’t need to get upset about it, but we do need to protect ourselves against it. We do need to be able to validate the contents of our minds and to tell fact from fiction.”
The increasing role of technology is an element of the science of mind control that can’t be ignored – although Grove says that technology itself is not the problem. He says the Nazis were working towards total control of the population through, among other things, the accumulation of information, but they lacked the computing power to fully consolidate this kind of control.
Today, we have the Internet, which can be used for the free exchange of information but also for those in power to collect data for the purpose of control.
“The Internet’s a tool; it can be used for good or evil,” Grove says. “And evil is what happens when it’s a stimulus/response world, because then we all act like animals. The difference between humans and animals is that we have the ability to fill that space with thinking and using reason and logic, and we have the ability to be compassionate and communicate our needs instead of using violence.”
He says that a battle has been raging throughout history between those who want to suppress consciousness and those who want to express it.
“There’s all this great information that proves all these conspiracies, and we don’t have to live this lie anymore, but there’s these other people who say, “It’s too much work, I like the lie, let me have the steak (a reference to The Matrix).
“But the steak’s not real.”
Grove says that without the willingness to think critically, we lose the ability to be free and creative individuals, which is essential to our humanity.
“Yes, it’s work because it takes up time and it takes energy, but I call it life, because this is the work of living and not being a dead, soulless person out there being part of the problem like an agent in The Matrix.
“Nature’s pretty cool when it all gets in synchronization, but to do that you have to turn your mind on and start asking questions about what is being taught here in this curriculum we call life.”

Some notable comments from the interviewees in State of Mind

  •  “If large numbers of people don’t become consciously resistant to the overall mind control exerted on society we’re going to see many more people who really do resemble androids. People induce this themselves by looking out at the world and saying, ‘It’s too dangerous for me to tell the truth or to say what I really believe or to express how I really feel; it’s much better if I fabricate an entire synthetic personality that’s going to sit back here and remain passive.’” – Investigate journalist Jon Rappoport
  • “If you’re a radical, you’re less likely to be loved. You’re not fitting in with society, you’re an outsider. There are a lot of social prohibitions for the outsider and the one who’s going to upset things.” – Doug Valentine, author of The Phoenix Program.
  • The consequences of non-resistance to control is losing everything that makes us human, that we love, that we cherish. This is all happening so fast. You have to be ahead of the game; they’re ahead of the game.” “– Kaye Beach, radio host.
  • “Humans subjugate themselves to control because they’re born into it. The tyrants and the social engineers know how to incrementally begin to slowly ratchet up the manipulation, the domination, the oppression, so that people never really recognize it coming.” – Alex Jones, Infowars.
  • “The idea of short-term gain, basically giving up freedoms is never a good idea.” – Anthony Schaeffer, former intelligence officer.
  • “The real goal was to change America from an individualist system to a collectivist system, in which case it could be merged with the rest of the world, and there would be the great New World Order we hear so much about in recent years. – G. Edward Griffiin, author of The Creature of Jekyll Island.
  • “Billions and billions and billions of dollars have been spent privately and publicly looking at how to tap into your psyche, how to cause you to make choices you wouldn’t otherwise make, to do things you wouldn’t otherwise do, to consume whether it is a product or a plank in a political platform.” – Dr. Eldon Taylor, psychotherapist and motivational speaker.
  • “Information and knowledge equals power and control.” – Dr. Colin Ross, psychiatrist and author of The CIA Doctors.
  • A lot of folks who are critical thinkers they realize how powerful this kind of great giant corporate government entity is out there, and that kind of understanding that a critical thinker has can be quite painful and can lead to them becoming depressed and apathetic and giving up.” – Dr. Bruce Levine, psychologist, author of Get Up, Stand Up.

  1. This is an important article Craig,
Very succinct and well written. I don’t have any comments other than that for the time being. I want to think on it. I have a DVD of Grove’s film, and I think I might review that before piping up here.
Thanks, and HAPPY NEW YEAR to Truth and Shadows.

      1. Yes, there is an enormity to the situation itself. Isn’t there?
I was just thinking today how it is that all my adult life I had heard “whispers” about the “New World Order”, and how it was only in the circles of “conspiracy theorists” that it was considered, and taken serious.
What set these thoughts running was a glance at a book on a table in my dining room:
RETHINKING AMERICA’S SECURITY” BEYOND THE COLD WAR TO NEW WORLD ORDER. I was published by ‘The American Assembly’ and the Council on Foreign Relations ©1992. It is a collection of works in Orwellian Newspeak. You would recognize many of the authors, Kissinger being a standout.
The thing that struck me is that even in 92 the idea of a new world order was still looked upon as a fantasy of delusional tin hatted nuts. But here is a book written by high academia on the very subject. An oxymoron of this psychotic culture…
As Hegel duly noted, the average person doesn’t learn the lessons of history. It ain’t part of the ‘pop review’. It’s not “Bee-bop-a’lula or “I Wanna Hold You’re Hand” nor the new glitz-mixer parade.
Did you see ‘Quest For Fire’? [great film] – as portrayed therein {and it makes sense according to what we know of history}; that prehistoric humans were essentially the same as us: That the go-along-to-get-along crowd has always been part of human reality. That only a small minority are inventors and thinkers. That sort of thing has to be nurtured in a society, not held down, as the ‘powers that be’ always go for. That is one thing positive about early US history; that attempt to popularize self reliance, curiosity, inventiveness, and historical memory. The debates in the Anti-Federalist Papers give good insight as to how common, ‘common sense’ was in those days.
Now ‘society’ is neatly bound-up in saran-wrap like prefab sprouts.

Learning without Questioning in America: The Sunday School Syndrome

“Clinging to one’s opinion is the best proof of stupidity.”—Michel de Montaigne
Subjects are taught as if they were comprised of revealed truths. Hardly anyone ever questions them because questioning them is discouraged. So we end up with people who graduate with degrees under their arms who are no wiser than they were on the days they matriculated as freshmen. No new idea ever enters their heads. In this society, people who are learned are not educated. They are little different from hurdy gurdy monkeys, but we elect them to office. Such is the legacy of the Sunday School Syndrome. It yields the stubbornness of what are essentially stillborn minds. No amount of information conveyed can ever make a stupid person smart! So nothing fundamental will ever change until intellectual development rather than the conveyance of information becomes the principal goal of learning.
Every teacher who has tired to teach students an unconventional truth has met an obstinate student, the student to whom the conventional truth he matriculated with is the conventional truth he graduates with. Everyone who has tried to teach Ted Cruz knows what I’m talking about. Some claim that the hardest minds to change are religious. I don’t know how to amass any evidence for that but I suspect that there’s a kernel of truth in the claim. Such minds are hard to change because of the way they develop.
In many homes in America’s Bible Belt, children are nurtured in constrained intellectual environments. The only recognized book is the Bible, and children are told from early ages on that it contains the revealed word of God himself which not only is never questioned but is never even questionable. These children go or are taken to church three or more times a week where they are enrolled in Bible school and hear stories, often as outrageous as the parting of the Red Sea, that are never questionable. No one ever asks, or is even ever allowed to ask, How can that be true?~John Kozy

No, actually I simply changed my mind. I am intimately familiar with this subject.
How ’bout you? Anything but snarky quips? Is the winking smiley face supposed to mean you “didn’t mean it in a mean way”?
Perhaps there is something within my second comment that you don’t agree with. What might that be? If not, what is your point?

At one point she says, “if sex sells, why don’t we see more half clad men in ads? It’s because something else is being sold.” Namely, media teaches (badly) how men should treat women (as objects) and how women should modify themselves (to be better sex objects). It is another version of the same game.

  2. I find myself taking certain exception with Mr. Grove’s remark that we don’t need to get upset about the current elite using mind control, but just learn to protect ourselves. I think it’s a whole society-affecting negative (anti-freedom) phenomenon, and, as such, calls for development of broader remedies and sanctions, including development of counteracting information and probably legal remedies with sufficiently harsh disincentives. First, the documented incidences and their perpetrators, especially if government agents or agencies, need to be much more widely informed of and known and support built for methods of public protection — as with widespred or selective agency spying on private individuals and groups. I find the MIND CONTROL DVD shocking and necessary viewing.

    1. “I find myself taking certain exception with Mr. Grove’s remark that we don’t need to get upset about the current elite using mind control, but just learn to protect ourselves.” -James Hufferd
I think you are taking Grove’s remarks wrong. Being concerned is a separate issue from being “upset”. Being upset is an emotional response, one that clouds thinking rationally. I think it obvious that Mr Grove is concerned and is doing his best to address this issue and to inform the disinformed and lead a path to healing humanity and this sad planet.
You end your comment well. It just seems strange to me that you always seem to put your negative foot forward first. It may be because you are “upset”… yes?

        1. It’s weird that there is confusion on this. You called him “hydro” and “hydrolique” in consecutive comments. Remember? There have been many instances on this blog of people twisting names as an attack. Not saying you intended this, but I decided at one point not to allow “fun” with names anymore. Fun with substance is quite enough.

        1. Perhaps I could also ban procrastination and Sabbath-breaking? But seriously, how does one define a put down? Or a dumb supremacy boast? How would one establish limits for either?

      1. I have been reading this strange dialog coming in waves of ever weirder foam coming from Hufferd. I don’t get it.
        What is your oink James?
        “supremacy boasts”???
Seriously dood, it’s like some surreal neurosis play. Aren’t you even vaguely interested in the actual subject here? Why the itchy banter?
        Chill out man…

  3. There was this film. Maybe Argentinian..maybe Chilean….certainly South American. Made of the early stages of the fascistii pogroms where giant sweeps of the population by their uniformed dog brutes rounded up students, workers, musicians, labour union members, universities…medical personnel …..anyone and everyone identified as possibly ‘subversive’, grouping them In large open prison courtyards.
Hundreds of men from all walks of life thrust together by the evil dog ones.
Agents provocateur would stage bitter fights among those imprisoned..small riots in the quads, but the camera eyes watched the REACTION of the inmates in the corners instead, isolating and identifying those ‘natural leaders’ able to extend quiet humanity and caution to their fellows in those desperate times.
These men were later isolated, drugged, bound, and dropped by night from aircraft high over the Cold Atlantic.
The main character was to die in this way. But before he did, the film had a series of exchanges with his Daughter visiting, bringing him paintings to put on the cell walls.
He noticed many things in the painted skies blacked out crudely, and his daughter explained the guards would not allow the images of birds to be shown, so they blacked them out.
The later paintings had no birds, therefore no guards scrawl, but the Father noticed many brightly coloured dots throughout the images that made no real sense to him until the Daughter explained that they were the eyes of the birds.

  4. State of Mind is a great film full of very useful information. I am going to comment on this article later however because I am just outraged by the Kelly Thomas verdict right now and am currently spreading information about that on Youtube.

  5. Here’s a very recent video from StormCloudsGathering on this very subject. Seems pretty accurate and probably dovetails in with State of Mind (which I watched last night, after seeing this article, and learned a great deal from). Adam Curtis also created Century of the Self in 2002 — another fine film on this general topic. At any rate, seems there’s a lot of interest in the psychology of our control being fomented, at least by filmmakers and video producers. Will this usher in mass awakening? Very doubtful, but never say never.

I think “the masters of the universe” are getting a bit worried about the viability of their retaining position.

    1. I would prefer to read. Do you have a link where it can be read?
With regard to the article under discussion, a wise friend has pointed out that the ability to form independent opinions is as much a function of spiritual evolution as it is of intelligence. So perhaps we truthers take the wrong tack by continually trying to get the facts out there, thinking that people will be convinced by them. It might be more effective, although slower, to help our brethren evolve spiritually so that they develop the courage and humility to think for themselves and go against the crowd.
Why humility? Because many people pretend to have opinions on subjects they know nothing about, being unwilling to say “I haven’t looked into it, so I don’t know.” How often go you hear anyone say that? Pride compels people to pretend to know things that they do not, as we all know from discussing 9/11 and other false flags with those who know nothing about it, yet are sure we are wrong.
Non-spiritual people often assume that spirituality and religion encourage one to become a doormat. That may be true for false religion, but true religion is about becoming our true, best selves, which means a degree of fearlessness not ordinarily achievable by purely secular means.
Here’s what my wise friend had to say on the subject:
Why do you voice opinions that are not your own? One possibility is, simply, laziness and inertia. Anything that does not touch you personally is not important enough to make an effort for—in this case the effort to think independently for the sake of truth. Hence you quickly adopt the opinions of others. It is one thing not to have an opinion at all about a subject that is neither important nor interesting to you, but another if you hold other people’s opinions.
Inferiority feelings are another reason for not having your own opinions. You are so certain that other people know better than you that you rely on their opinions rather than on your own. By going on in this way you create a vicious circle: the more you hold opinions not your own, the more you unconsciously despise yourself for it. And the more you despise yourself, the greater the apparent need to adopt other people’s opinions. Thus you see can how every wrong inner condition creates a vicious circle, apart from the great vicious circle I discussed last time. The only way to break the circle is to have the courage to examine the subject, to review it freely and independently. If then you arrive at a different view and have the courage to live up to it, at the price of differing from your environment, you will automatically respect yourself a lot more—and thus begin to break this particular vicious circle. On the other hand, if you arrive at the same opinion again, but this time it has really become your own, your courage and labor to free yourself from the yoke of your own weakness will have the same positive effect.
Another motive for holding opinions not your own is a desire to conform. The desire for conformity has a few subdivisions. For instance, the child or the immature person feels different from her or his surroundings, has a feeling of not belonging, of being isolated and unique in a negative sense. This is why all children want to be like other children and feel deeply ashamed about their imagined difference. The maturing of the soul will change this tendency, but until then a person will be inclined to hold on to others’ opinions.
Another motive for conforming and therefore not daring to seek one’s own opinions is in the area where you still rebel against authority. Since you still crave to belong, and your rebellion is not only hidden but is limited to certain realms of your life, you want to make up for the rebellion by conforming to your environment in other ways.
Still another motive for holding others’ opinions is to cover up the exact wish that you deny yourself by adopting the opposite opinion. Because your desire does not conform to public opinion, you are convinced of its wickedness. Added to this is your general guilt feeling that arises from the main vicious circle. Hence, you are compelled to have an opinion that is not in harmony with your emotions and unconscious desires. Whether you consider these emotions and unconscious wishes desirable or undesirable is not the issue here. But under no circumstances do you eliminate possibly wrong desires by conforming outwardly, by adopting the opposite opinion out of fear and weakness. Such opinions are often particularly rigid—and even violent.
In all these instances, you violate your personality; you lack the courage to be yourself and to arrive at your own conclusions. You sell out your truth for an imagined personal advantage, which increases your self-contempt, though this is usually quite unconscious.

      1. Hi Sheila,
As far as the link to the transcript to ‘Century of the Self’ – I’m sorry, I didn’t copy the URL down for that when I was on page. All I did to find the page with links to video’s and the transcript was type the title:’Century of the Self’ into my browser. If you are looking for the text, just type in “transcript for..”.
I agree with your comments on spirituality too. This is a topic I have had deep interest in, and the life I have led. I know you are not talking about ‘organised religion’ particularly, although that will come to most people’s minds.
It certainly is relevant to the topic at hand here, for at the base of all of this is the question of what it is to be human. If this question is not in mind, the rest of the story is happenstance and without true purpose. We can swing from Jung, to Otto Rank, to Jesus, the Buddha, Mohamed, and the ancient shamans. But if we don’t swing, we are just squares, in that old beatnik sense.
Look deep within, as scary as that may seem to some folks…

  6. Tying the last thread on JFK to this one:
    Dave Hodges – January 15, 2014
    The Common Sense Show
When I was coaching college basketball, I used to teach my players how to properly defend the player in front of them. The instructions included that if a defender wants to stay in front of a swift ball handler, they should keep their eyes on his midsection because he can go nowhere else without his midsection. Most defenders can stay in front of their opponent by watching the midsection. Today, the American people have a midsection to follow, it is the Russians. If you want to know what dangers are coming, and in what form, simply watch the Russians because they are the key to what lies ahead.
    JFK Predicts Our Future
Even though America runs the risk of being taken over by the Russians under the control of the Department of Homeland Security, this is not a pure communist takeover of this country. Putin is controlled by the same banksters who JFK spoke so eloquently about before they assassinated him. Here are the key excerpts of this historic speech given on April 27, 1961, which adequately describes and foretells what we are up against today.
“Tonight, I want to talk about our common responsibilities in the face of a common danger. The events of recent weeks may have helped to ILLUMINATE (ed. note-Illuminati reference) that challenge for some; but the dimensions of its threat have loomed large on the horizon for many years. Whatever our hopes may be for the future — for reducing this threat or living with it — there is no escaping either the gravity or the totality of its challenge to our survival and to our security — a challenge that confronts us in unaccustomed ways in every sphere of human activity…
For we are opposed around the world by a monolithic and ruthless conspiracy that relies primarily on covert means for expanding its sphere of influence — on infiltration instead of invasion, on subversion instead of elections, on intimidation instead of free choice, on guerrillas by night instead of armies by day. It is a system which has conscripted vast human and material resources into the building of a tightly knit, highly efficient machine that combines military, diplomatic, intelligence, economic, scientific and political operations…
Its preparations are concealed, not published. Its mistakes are buried, not headlined. Its dissenters are silenced, not praised. No expenditure is questioned, no rumor is printed, no secret is revealed. It conducts the Cold War, in short, with a war-time discipline no democracy would ever hope or wish to match…”
Doesn’t this match exactly what we are facing today? JFK is speaking about what he called the “Gnomes of Zurich”. He is specifically referring to the banksters, the NWO and the enemy of humanity as a whole. These gnomes are going to use the Russians to enforce a brutal martial law which will complete the destruction of the United States.

  8. When individual freedom is no longer discussed in great depth by people who should know better, when it is left to wither on the vine, many programs and structures are built to take its place. But if freedom seems like a weak response to the Surveillance State and its goals, remember this: all the State power I’ve been enumerating is organized to curtail freedom, stop it, end it, make it obsolete. That enormous effort wouldn’t be necessary if freedom were merely a passing fancy. It isn’t. It’s an eternal force.~Jon Rappoport

  9. AMERIKA THE OBSCENITY – AMERIKA THE PITIFUL
In a speech at the Justice Department Friday, President Barack Obama issued an unqualified defense of the National Security Agency (NSA) and the US government’s police state surveillance of the American people and countless millions around the world.
The address was an exercise in lies and historical falsifications. The fact that such a speech could even be given without provoking a massive outcry and demands for the president’s immediate impeachment is an indication of how far the American ruling class and political establishment have gone in the direction of totalitarian rule.
In the course of his 45-minute address, Obama never mentioned the Fourth Amendment, which explicitly bans warrentless and arbitrary “searches and seizures”—precisely what the NSA and other intelligence agencies are doing, and on a scale that could not have been imagined by the Founding Fathers of the American republic.
Instead, the speech was marked by repeated paeans to the military-intelligence apparatus.
“The folks at the NSA are our neighbors, they’re our friends and family,” Obama said. “Our intelligence community follows the law and is staffed by patriots,” he added, declaring that NSA operatives “follow protocols designed to protect the privacy of ordinary people.”

  10. Peter Chiarelli, who had just finished his term as the Army’s vice chief of staff, visited Peter Carroll at the Seattle Seahawks headquarters.
“Rome had its gladiators. The Aztecs had their epic human sacrifices. But in all the annals of bloody spectacle, nothing has ever drawn a crowd like America’s biggest annual event: The Super Bowl.
In 2011, 111 million people watched the Super Bowl, making it the most-viewed television program in US history.
American football, unlike European football, is a violent, militaristic game. The gist: Two teams of eleven muscular men in plastic armor pummel each other into oblivion as they march up and down the field capturing territory while trying to penetrate each others’ “end zone.”
The game rose with the military-industrial society it represents. American football surpassed the gentler sport of baseball as America’s national pastime during the post-World War II years of US imperial expansion.
Normally, the Super Bowl – with its ritual militarized violence and crass, tasteless, often downright perverse advertisements – represents American culture at its worst. But this year’s Super Bowl, scheduled for February 2nd, will have one redeeming feature: It will put the national spotlight on the rise of the 9/11 truth movement.
The Seattle Seahawks, who will be playing the Denver Broncos for the championship, are coached by a 9/11 truther, Pete Carroll. This fact has already begun to astonish the middlebrow world of mainstream American football audiences.
The sports blogosphere is already spilling over with outraged headlines:
“Is Seahawks Coach Pete Carroll a 9/11 Truther?”
“Report: Pete Carroll May Be 9/11 Truther”
“Pete Carroll seeks truth about 9/11 from four-star general”
    “Pete Carroll, 9/11 Conspiracy Theorist”
What did Pete Carroll do to achieve such notoriety?
Last spring, Carroll grilled four-star general, Peter Chiarelli – who had just retired as the US Army’s Vice Chief of Staff – about whether 9/11 was an inside job. Carroll expressed skepticism about whether an airliner really hit the Pentagon, and apparently also remarked on the obvious controlled demolition of World Trade Center Building 7, and the only slightly less-obvious explosive demolitions of the Twin Towers: “Every 9/11 conspiracy theory you can think of, Pete asked about,” said Riki Ellison, an ex-football player turned military advocate who was present at the meeting.
Gen. Chiarelli was understandably annoyed by Carroll’s questions about 9/11. Obviously the general could not publicly deviate from the official story of 9/11 without endangering his career – and perhaps his life. So Carroll was basically forcing Chiarelli to lie. By confronting Chiarelli about the all-too-obvious 9/11 inside job – the biggest barrel of political dynamite in US history – Pete Carroll became an honorary member of We Are Change, an activist group that specializes in guerrilla video “interviews” with suspected 9/11 cover-up criminals and traitors.

    1. I wonder if Mr. Carroll would talk about this in response to a media question in the lead-up to the game? My guess is no. My other guess if that no one will ask him about it.

      1. I don’t know Craig,
Did you read the article? He seems pretty enthusiastic about 911 Truth. You should see if you can find out how to contact him.

    1. Sorry, I missed some recent comments. Thanks for giving me a shake. I’ve been relying on email notifications to let me know that new comments have come in (because there haven’t been many lately) and it seems that some slipped by. Usually I’m checking for new comments more regularly. I am working on a new piece that I hope to have up shortly. It will focus on 9/11, so I hope there will be more comments that we’ve seen lately. We can’t leave it up to you, HR, to do all the heavy lifting!

  12. Hi Craig, just wanted to belatedly check in here and say, great article! I read it a first time but wanted to reread it slower a second time before offering a thought-provoking, life changing comment. But I never got around to it. As a few may know here, I just moved to Seattle from Cincinnati, so I’ve been busy settling in (political blogging taking a back seat here lately). I think I can safely say that on here, since the NSA spies at Langley assigned to me probably already knew a month and a half ago 😉 Looking forward to your upcoming post.

    1. Both the clip from President Obama and from President Bush are spot on correct. Yes, sir-ree. The only paradigm shift required is to recognize that Al-Queda can be re-written “Al-CIA-duh” and remain valid. //

  13. what a pussy. This guy was just about to false flag bomb ASSAD on alQaeda’s behalf so he already knows what ‘onside’ looks like- all those murdered children of Latakia ! alCIADA….well, he got that right. He wouldn’t know a ‘fact’ if he rolled it up and smoked it.
Mathew MILLS Super Bowl moment managing two sentences breaking into the mainstream psychobabble got more said than Obama’s yabber can ever patch up.
“investigate 911. 911 was perpetrated by members of out own government”. yay fkn A,
a moment in time. an act of power.

  14. Well, until Craig gets his new article up: Thoughts on Matt Mills grabbing the mike and spreading 9/11 Truth at the Superbowl?

Kevin Barrett wrote a home run of an article about it:
    http://www.presstv.ir/detail/2014/02/03/349027/911-truth-coach-wins-super-bowl/

I suspect Pete Carroll may be getting a message one way or another (or he may have already gotten the message): “Either take back what you have already said, or, at the very least, keep your mouth shut about 9/11 from now on.”
I hope Carroll tells them to go to hell, and uses his post-Super Bowl superstardom to draw attention to groups like Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth. Perhaps he could even help organize NFL players to come out for 9/11 truth.
Such moves would take immense courage and patriotic commitment. But coach Carroll, who had the guts to grill a four-star general about the 9/11 inside job, is obviously a brave and patriotic man.

This event has gone viral all over the MSM. Just go to news.google.com and see a huge plethora of MSM sources covering it. Many of the comments and comment voting at these MSM blogs is indeed encouraging. Pro truth comments are getting heavily up voted.
As sad as it is, this guy’s message reached orders of magnitude more people than even the Rethink911 billboards. I have no doubt this event triggered thousands of people to start their journey down the Google rabbit hole.

  15. Plastic Fantastic Black Widows
“The Sochi Games are occurring at the height of a Worldwide crisis marked by the confrontation between the US and Russia on the geopolitical chessboard. In turn, the ongoing protest movement in Ukraine has a bearing on Russia’s geopolitical control of the Black Sea.
What would be the underlying political objective of a terrorist attack?
Are these slanted media reports solely intended to create an aura of fear and uncertainty which causes political embarrassment to the Russian authorities?
While network TV and the tabloids have their eyes riveted on the Black Widow, the more fundamental question as to Who is behind the Caucasus terrorists goes unmentioned.
None of the news reports has focused on the fundamental question which is required in assessing the terror threat.
Both the history of Al Qaeda as well as recent developments in Syria and Libya confirm unequivocally that the Al Qaeda network is covertly supported by Western intelligence.

Materials for a History of Studies of Crisis Cults: A Bibliographic Essay
Weston La Barre – Current Anthropology
    Abstract:
Since the pioneering work of James Mooney on the Ghost Dance and F. E. Williams on the Vailala Madness, the study of crisis cults, in a native world undergoing massive acculturation, has become a major preoccupation of modern fieldwork. Notable theorists have been Ralph Linton and A. F. C. Wallace; areal monographs and compendia have multiplied; and the taxonomy of crisis cults has become highly developed. Theories of causality have suffered from the “tunnel vision” of confinement usually to a single preferred academic discipline, and the necessity of a holistic approach is demonstrated.~La Barre
    ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
As we live in the paradigm of a pathological society where Newspeak is the language du jour , new definitions must be made for the sake of sanity – thinking anew. “Crisis Cult” is a term that needs such a new definition, for our post industrial paradigm itself is a crisis cult. We live in an age of exponential crises, and this is dealt with in the main through the promotion of mass-delusion: Folie à Mondo.~ww
