The rush to judgment (part 2): deception on a grand scale

It’s all about sleight of hand.
The trick with getting people to accept a lie without question is to have them hear it amidst lots of action. Bombs are good. Noise helps. Fear is essential.
It was Adolf Hitler who said: “The great masses of the people will more easily fall victim to a big lie than to a small one.” Why am I quoting the biggest mass murderer of the 20^th century? Well, the man knew his propaganda.
Here’s another one: “By the skillful and sustained use of propaganda, one can make a people see even heaven as hell or an extremely wretched life as paradise.”
But this one might be the most important in terms of understanding deception on a grand scale: “As soon as by one’s own propaganda even a glimpse of right on the other side is admitted, the cause for doubting one’s own right is laid.”
Not only must there be distractions, but the lie must be said loudly and repeatedly. And the idea that it isn’t true can’t even be considered. If you look at how 9/11 has been covered by the media – obediently following the government’s version of events – the idea that Osama bin Laden might not have been behind the attacks is not even considered. It’s just accepted as fact. The same thing happened with Lee Harvey Oswald.
In one of the many 9/11 documentaries I’ve seen recently, Bill Clinton is giving a speech and is being heckled from the audience about 9/11. Clinton glares at the person and says: “9/11 was an inside job? How dare you. How dare you!”
That’s how it’s done. You don’t argue the position taken by the other side, you dismiss it as not worthy of discussion. Add in some self-righteous indignation, and that’s all you need.  You’ll never see Bill Clinton or George Bush or any other major figure debating the events of 9/11.  That would be opening the subject up to doubt.
The argument always made against the idea of a vast conspiracy being behind terrible events like 9/11 or the Kennedy assassination is that the plot would have to have involved so many people – someone would certainly spill the beans. But, as I explained in part 1 of this post, someone did spill the beans (CIA agent Howard Hunt admitted on his deathbed to being part of the plot to kill Kennedy), and it didn’t matter. No one listened.
The discussion in the American media was never, “Who killed Kennedy?” it was only, “Was Oswald working for the Soviets?”
The same thing happened with 9/11. Many witnesses have contradicted the official version of things, but that doesn’t register because the officially accepted version of events has already been set.
The fact is, there are dozens of holes in the official story that are big enough to fly a plane through. But the corporate-controlled media won’t fulfill their role as watchdogs. Instead they’re more like lap dogs.
I managed to miss most of the propaganda that passed for news coverage of the 9/11 commemoration on U.S. networks last weekend. And I’m glad I did.
I didn’t have to watch Michelle Obama give a touching speech at Shanksville, Pennsylvania where United Airlines Flight 93 is supposed to have crashed (just a hole in the ground – no plane).
And I  managed to miss the president standing in front of the Pentagon where American Airlines Flight 77 was supposed to have crashed. Gee, Mr. President, how does a Boeing 757 fit into a hole less than 20 feet across? I guess you’d rather not have to answer that one. Instead you’ll poignantly laud the courage of the victims, recounting the fantasy that a passenger liner hit the building (even though none of the Pentagon’s many surveillance cameras caught it on tape. Odd for the most secure building in the world, don’t you think?).
And Osama bin Laden and his 19 accomplices are guilty of the attacks. Everybody says so. Accept it and don’t ask any questions. It’ll be nicer that way. More comforting.
That’s what it’s all about, after all. It’s not about facts, or truth. It’s about getting us to believe what we want to believe.
